SMALL BOAT WANTED! This is the historic #RiverTrent ford at Littleborough. I'm walking from York to Battle in Oct, largely by Roman Roads. I need to cross on Sat 3rd, & would much prefer a 'ferry' rather than walking around via G'borough. Can you help? See Alt for more. Thank you ❤️ #Hastings960
A Google Earth image from 2003, showing a large river winding through agricultural countryside, from bottom to top of the image. A road runs diagonally from the top left to mid right, broken by the river. A few buildings stand by it on the left bank, on part of the site of Roman Segelocum.

I'll reach this point in Saturday 3rd August, probably mid morning. It really would be great to cross by boat. I did the same York to Battle walk in 2016 and at this point had to walk around via Gainsborough, which was fine, but meant I missed one of the significant historic experiences on the route. The ford here was genuinely ancient, scene of many important crossing, a multitude of sundry ones, and reputedly at least one mass baptism.

I'd appreciate any help with this very much indeed. Please give me a shout if you can help, or know someone who can. Thank you.

HEDY LAMARR escaped from her Nazi husband by disguising herself as her own maid, became a top actress in Hollywood, then co-developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes - the principles of which are incorporated into today’s Bluetooth and GPS technology. Helluva lady.

What’s your legacy Johnson? Brexit. Total collapse of trust in politics. And this. The small boats symbolise your dishonesty and your failure. You’re responsible for nothing but damage. Not one good thing. Not one proud moment. You’re forever a shameful disgrace who threw his own mandate in the bin.

Today I saw the new 4 hour documentary Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. There were too many times to count that a sold out theater burst out laughing at Elon Musk, something he said or did, even sometimes just how he looked. I believe that is his worst nightmare come to life.

A close-up photo of a purple-blue flower with a bright yellow centre, set against a deep green, softly blurred background. Its elongated petals radiate outward in a delicate starburst, surrounding a cluster of tiny golden florets. The vivid contrast between the cool purple petals and the warm yellow centre creates a captivating interplay of colours, while the smooth background draws attention to the flower’s intricate details and elegant symmetry.

In 1994 when they were taking off but by no means massive or wielding any influence within the music industry, Green Day took gay punk band Pansy Division on tour with them. People were very vocally homophobic back then (in England, section 28 was still very much in force - not repealed until 2003!)
