The idea of Dennis Spooner and Robert Holmes meeting feels inherently weird to me, just because Spooner contributed to a very different era of the show. Irrational I know, especially as the gap between their contributions must only be like 3 years

I went looking through the newspaper archives, and I found this from October 1948. What even WAS Seattle 78 years ago?

Seattle Censor Bans the Murder Thriller "Rope"

SEATTLE, Oct. 19, 1948 (AP) -- Seattle's theater censor board today banned further showing of the murder thriller "Rope."

The action came as the motion picture ended a two-week run and was to be shifted to a second theater.

Chairman Bernard Reiter said the board banned the picture after receiving "a number of complaints." He said the principal objections were that it was not apparent enough the guilty are punished for their crime and it does not seem a proper picture "for children and for impressionable adults."

Alfred Hitchcock directed the Warner Brothers picture, which stars James Stewart. Movie critics here said it was the first reported censorship of the film.

I was optimistically thinking that maybe, really near the center, there would be a higher density of ISM, so, just more dust in general, but also that dust would definitely not be uniformly distributed in space

I naively would have thought that the sky wouldn't look all that different, except for more stars, and maybe more obvious color variations due to dust. But the surface brightness of resolved stuff would just be the same as we see from Earth

The very best thing about preparing for the emergency landing - even more than having an exit seat - was being next to a relaxed oil rig worker, who told me, "If this thing was going to go down in flames we'd have nosedived into the Atlantic by now." I genuinely found this reassuring.

I’ve said it before but I read that book as a child very literally, Lion Daddy is a Good Deity. The illustrated children’s bible my Catholic grandma sent me was utterly separate, and kind of scary (creepy art style)
