Generative LLMs aren't an intelligence, so I have stopped referring to them as "AI". Further, generative LLMs are designed to create text that appears plausible in tone, using a probabilistic model based on everything that's been written that was used to "train" it, with no mechanism for accuracy.

It's always a bit weird to remember that I had a mobile phone so early that there was no rule about using it whilst driving (but I had an in-car attachment anyway) or having one at school. I had a phone before I had a car, and I got my car after passing my test in 1997.

Streaming music will die because LLM generated music will crowd out actual musicians, so fewer people will bother trying to use it, so the already minimal payments to artists will be reduced even further, so they'll want to remove their work, so more people will go to the artists directly.

From a technical standpoint, unless you have a zero-day retention policy, a BAA/DPA, or another agreement that precludes your data from being retained and consumed by the model provider... anything you send to an LLM is effectively now public data. Twenty years ago fuel (diesel and petrol (gasoline)) in the UK passed £1/litre (about $5/gallon) for the first time, and there was some consternation. Before the US administration decided to bomb Iran it was about £1.50/litre (so about $7.50/gallon) and now it is almost £2/litre ($10/gallon).

It is always rather telling that someone like me, with immigrant grandparents (on one side), is allowed to be English whilst certain others aren't. Heck, my maternal grandparents weren't just simple "immigrants" but people fleeing active persecution, just like many do these days.

People are being taught to be good at rote memorisation & recall so as to do well at standardised testing. Being taught how to think, how to analyse thoughts (both your own and those of others), how to consider evidence, how to comprehend, how to seek clarification… all of that isn't being done.
