We are about to hear a concerted effort from the Brexit right about how rejoining the EU is impossible and how the Europeans don't want us back. It's all rubbish. European politicians are overwhelmingly in support of much closer ties with the UK including full membership.

Saying that "AI may correct that" is so incredibly foolish it is actually detrimental to public health to publish it as if it were real. Not only does it not do that, it *can't* do that, because it doesn't "tell" anything it just generates plausible text!

Generative LLMs aren't an intelligence, so I have stopped referring to them as "AI". Further, generative LLMs are designed to create text that appears plausible in tone, using a probabilistic model based on everything that's been written that was used to "train" it, with no mechanism for accuracy.

It's always a bit weird to remember that I had a mobile phone so early that there was no rule about using it whilst driving (but I had an in-car attachment anyway) or having one at school. I had a phone before I had a car, and I got my car after passing my test in 1997.

Car phones weren't mobile phones, they couldn't be taken out of the car. When phones were able to be taken outside of a vehicle they were always called mobile phones. I had one in the nineties. But you don't have to take my word for it, see this for a related example: youtu.be/vix6TMnj9vY

Indeed, I've heard from many people who work in various refuse & recycling departments that sometimes a pizza box can lead to the entire box of recycling being trashed instead because the grease can ruin all the paper. Best to check.
