These provisions were tailored to comply with CUSMA. The real galaxy-brain move would be to just say that all CUSMA provisions in the digital chapter have no force and effect because the USA is blatantly violating the agreement. That would open up a lot of new options for better digital policy.

This is about where I'm at. Make a single painful escalation then go dark. Ask any other country, or ourselves, whether America's word is worth anything on trade deals. The answer is no. You cannot bargain with a country that will not keep its word.

If existing agreements are invalid, so be it. Oil, energy, fertilizer. Anything that goes south, the agreement is void like the Howe Bridge. We could use that power up here. State of emergency to rush build E-W export infrastructure. Dynamite the approaches to the Maroun bridge.

I really do worry that one of my major fears has started coming to pass, that this is increasingly moving beyond a Trump fixation that the rest of the GOP slavishly humours, and into something that they've genuinely internalized and made their own.

The more exposure I have to municipal planning & approval processes, the more I think provinces should strip municipal discretion entirely. Burn it to the ground, salt the earth. Send every city a copy of the building code and tell them this is the only basis they can decide permits on.

That said. Personally, I’d call Hoekstra in, show him a PNG letter, and ask him why I shouldn’t sign it and issue it to him. If I were Anand. And if he snarked in response, I would sign it and hand it to him.

Premiere Smith’s illegitimate attempt to end run the system after the system failed to produce her desired chaos is a master class in ratfucking. Here’s how the question is structured: Should Alberta stay in Canada? Yes - Alberta should leave No - Alberta should stay
“Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?”

“Yes - Alberta should begin the process of holding a binding referendum on separation”

“No - Alberta should not begin the prose of holding a binding referendum on separation - Alberta stays on Canada”

“Not sure”
