In case you’re wondering how the Bradford campaign is going, it’s at the “Sue-Ann Levy canvassing for him” stage.
A tweet from SAL about canvassing for Brad Bradford.

Good grief. This story needs to get out because more people need to know that (a) your friends are giving away your contact info and (b) this is one way that political discourse has been mechanized. Don’t trust social media. (she says, on social media)

ACORN organizer Ryan Endoh is up to speak, talking about issues with 500 Dawes Rd., on which he'd been unable to get traction with the local councillor, Bradford, but on which he was able to get the mayor to take action.

Here's Gloria Steinem casually talking about working for the CIA: "I thought the CIA were a right-wing incendiary group, but I was amazed to discover they are enlightened, liberal, non-partisan activists." Don't ever let anyone convince you that this white liberal POS was a progressive person.

How conventient for political journalists, to all be gathered in Downing Street once more, so they can interview each other, to ask "how did this happen?", without ever acknowledging that, at least in part, they themselves are how this happened.

But this rehabilitation of Bush and McCain and the other architects of the Iraq War into kindly old grandpas, a throwback to the good old days of politics when we all had our disagreements, sure, but everyone lined up and shook hands then hit the showers together after a sporting debate, is a fucking bridge too far. Imagine seeing Dick Fucking Cheney anywhere outside of an iron maiden in Hell and finding something to be nostalgic about?

Democrats should make 2 key points. 1) The illegal war in Iran has been a blunder & we are worse off than before it started. 2) There’s no good way out of a bad war. We should reject the talking points of those who cheered it on & want to drag us back into it. When you're in a hole, stop digging.

I'm just starting my review of the legislation. I'm sure I won't agree with all of. But the idea that a "super-regulator" (hyperbole alert) that'll impose strong regs on the private sector is in itself evidence of bad policy, that's something I'd hoped the Canadian debate had matured beyond.

Civil society can influence government, but it can't hold companies to account. And the market won't deliver the standards Canadians need and deserve. That leaves government. And that makes a lot of digital activists, used to equating government power with authoritarianism, very uncomfortable.

The uncomfortable truth for a lot of digital-rights activists is that effective regulation requires a powerful, effective government regulator, with rules and standards and enforcement powers. Especially if, as in the online space, you're dealing with a lot of bad actors.

I see we're re-running the same early-2000s cyberlibertarian arguments against effective online government regulation. Holding up as a paragon of effective regulation a Privacy Commissioner's Office that just demonstrated its impotence in the face of X/Grok's CSAM scandal isn't very convincing.

A wee group of angry balaclava and mask-wearing anti-immigration guys tried to stop the good people of Glasgow showing solidarity with migrants and standing up to racism and fascism. Well, the far right are far outnumbered... #RefugeesWelcome #MigrantsWelcome #NeighboursNotStrangers #Glasgow
Photo of a small group of mostly men wearing black, with masks and balaclavas, surrounded by a Police Scotland cordon in the bottom of the photo, in the foreground. In the background, a very large colourful crowd of people with saltires, trade union banners, and hand-made signs in support of migrants and against racism have turned up to gather to show solidarity, and the far right guys were hoping to thwart that. They didn't.
