Perhaps fittingly, when he coined the term he had actually been trying to suggest "oonerspism."

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

Say, just on “stenographers” as a dig at dodgy journalists, can we someday have a yes for *actual* stenos? I’ve worked with a bunch of them in TV captioning and then Hansard, and they do fabulous Jedi work putting syllables on the page in real time. But to be fair, we do all get what you mean.

Ari.they.them made me think of 90s sitcom writers room dynamics. It was always hard to get a niche joke across the line - the networks wanted universal appeal. For instance, the Big Bang guys once had to argue about Kirk/Picard instead of Sisko/Janeway. But Tel Aviv drone pilots is fine I guess?

In Star Trek people often complain that replicated food is not as good as naturally produced food, which is weird when replicators are presumably using the same technology as transporters, which can perfectly replicate Spock every time. But is Spock getting less flavoursome over time? In this essay,

Luckily the tabloid boycott already has a soundtrack! Billy Bragg (who else?) wrote a song breaking down the intractable problems of broken news, but then the little moment of hope comes at the end of each verse: Decades later, the Scousers still never buy the Sun. m.youtube.com/watch?v=oBEM...

The Catalogue of Ships in the Iliad is, to a modern audiences, what classicists have called "boring as hell," but I can't help but think that if you were watching Homer recite it it would have been more like when comedians go, "anybody here tonight from Chicago?" and the Chicagoans in the back start cheering
Homer's like, "and there were forty black ships from...
LOCRIS" and the Locrians in the crowd start going absolutely nuts

The image is of a four panel comic.
The title for the first two panels reads “dog domestication”.
The first panel shows a wolf running with a pack. The text reads “we changed form, size, personality…”
The second panel shows a chihuahua in a dog bed. The text reads “…lifestyle, instinct, our entire way of being.”
The title for the last two panel reads “cat domestication.”
The third panel shows an image of a cat outside.
The fourth panel shows the exact same cat indoors. The text reads “we went inside.”

I've had to unfriend a few fans lately, all for the same reason. They made ridiculing, unkind, and in some cases outright cruel comments about pictures I posted of young women cosplaying Jessica.
More than a person, Jessica is a state of mind. To play Jessica, you need self -confidence, a sense of humor, and a Jessican -attitude-. There is no such thing as a Jessica cosplayer being too short, too flat chested, too heavy, too thin, too unattractive, too black, too Asian, or even too male!!! All Jessica, any Jessica, every Jessica is good Jessica.
I'm not giving any warnings or second chances. A single disparaging comment on a Jessica cosplayer, and I'm throwing you out of the rainbow colored Toontown Tent.
