The Supreme Court's remarkable ruling against tariffs is another sign that Trumpist nationalism is in crisis. Tariffs and deportations are key pillars of Trumpism. Both are major fiascos. Both have caused his approval to crater. Trumpism is failing. New piece: newrepublic.com/article/2068...

We advance the moderate bull case for the international role of the euro. But of course, euro internationalsation faces clear limits. The euro’s Achilles heel is the lack of a deep capital market. The world also cannot simply convert existing dollar reserves into euros. 1/

It's an excellent piece. The answer to how the likes of Ridley thrive is very simple. He's an Eton educated Oxford graduate who is also a hereditary peer. He may be exceptionally stupid, but that is enough in this country to cover you in armour plating and propel you onwards in your career.

The United States has been badly out-democracied and out-rule-of-lawed by South Korea. And Brazil. In those countries, a leader who breaks a lot of laws and attempts a coup instead of leaving office when legally required faces consequences, instead of being given special treatment then power again.

Statement from HM The King after the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor:
STATEMENT FROM HIS MAJESTY THE KING

I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.
In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.
Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.
As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.
