Brexiters should be rejoicing at Burnham’s speech. They can campaign on all the ways Brexit has improved our lives and the fortunes of our country. They can set their case out clearly and with facts for all to see. Bet they can’t wait.

An insight into cycling trends - the introduction of Voi bikes has added about 500 additional cyclists per day to Leith Walk; the tram closure added another 250 at the peak. The Voi effect is much larger at the weekend, while the inverse is true for the tram.

We know the school run creates traffic. But does every school contribute equally? 🚸 Our year-long experiment suggests not. Read our findings👇 www.wearepossible.org/our-reports/s…
For the last year, we've been running an experiment and now the results are in.

On the streets we studies, rush hour congestion was disproportionately associated with private schoolsWe looked at whether there’s more traffic when schools are in term. The clear answer is yes.We looked at routes that had both private and state schools on them. The data shows that two thirds of school run congestion is linked to private schools on these routes. For full details of the research and our findings head to: wearepossible.org/schoolruncruncher

If I was writing a Police Scotland statement about a 34% rise in racist crime, I probably wouldn't use a framing that suggests "our communities" and "migrants" are two separate groups of people
A Police Scotland report reads: “There is a sense from our community engagement that there is an increase in local tensions impacting both our communities and migrants.”

Hospital parking is never free. Someone always pays. In the NHS it steals money that could be used by frontline services. Do you want to make children better, or park for free? Oh and I bet there's no free bus services to that hospital either, so it's even more unfair

The problem with solving youth crime is you need to spend a lot of money now, for results you won’t see for 10-15 years. And not a single politician is willing to look beyond the next election cycle. Like, we know the answer, it’s skate parks and youth clubs.

In 1994 when they were taking off but by no means massive or wielding any influence within the music industry, Green Day took gay punk band Pansy Division on tour with them. People were very vocally homophobic back then (in England, section 28 was still very much in force - not repealed until 2003!)

One of the things I learned growing up amid working musicians is: touring players will rationalize away a hell of a lot of bad stuff to book a gig that runs for weeks. A touring band saying, "I can't do this and live with myself" is like mercenaries saying, "This war is too disturbing. I'm out."

Aaron Rowe and Finneas don't have a scratch on the wealth of Ed Sheeran and have far more to lose from losing appearances than he does. But they were willing to put principles ahead of wealth and fame - and he isn't. Speaks volumes. None of it good for Sheeran, the coward of the occasion.

kudos to macklemore here for —right off the bat— the perspective and acknowledgment of who the real victims are
I'm not sure how to start this. So I'm going to speak from the heart and share the truth. Ed Sheeran and his team have made the decision to remove me from The Loop tour.

But before I get into it, I want to say something that should be obvious. In this moment I think it matters. I am not a victim. Ed Sheeran is not a victim. Pink is not a victim. We have careers, money, opportunities, safety and audiences around the world. Whatever consequences any of us face for what we say, we get to go home to our families.

The victims are the Palestinian people. The men, women and children who have been killed, starved, displaced and forced to live through unimaginable violence. More than 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza alone. People are being killed today, and people will be killed tomorrow. I want to make sure that as I tell this story, we don't lose sight of that.

Virtually every time I try to cross busy main road, this happens. Far more dangerous & less accessible than a bus stop with a cycle track, & happening everywhere. Yet no moral panic & media hysteria.
Car stopped on crossing when green man is showing for pedestrians- usually they will move off as soon as there is space even when crossing still in pedestrian phase. Sincerely "make it annoying as shit" is how you reduce car use while maintaining access for those who genuinely need it without needs assessments. Then it becomes less annoying in time as people who can switch to other options & those who can't get used to it & benefit from those who can switching.
