I read once about how an unusual thing in Europe about the UK is how many of us move a long way from our parents. Also - our 'family home' would be divided 4 ways- moving in is a non starter. Outside of London you are unlikely to get over the threshold. AND lots of people have created trusts anyway

I was at Disneyland Paris when there was a very average looking picket line of Disney workers - watched the French police baron charge the line with horses. They are far more violent than our police so I think the point stands. In those circumstances everything is ratcheted up

It is only recently, after 53 years, that I've realised the trauma I experienced having a prem baby 2 weeks in an incubator and the shit way I was treated by so-called caring staff. Stuck in a side room thinking my baby had died. Amber did ok really.

When i think back ( 35 years) I think how I could have done with just an hour out for a swim a week. But I was feeding, baby wouldn't take a bottle anyway and also I was intensely committed. Probably too young to be sensitive to my own needs and 'wellness'wasn't the focus - plus I was an evangelical

What on earth is happening?

This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.

Recent events in England now reveal the practical difference between terrorists and protesters. It would seem that terrorists peacefully hold placards and get immediately arrested, while protesters wear black uniforms and balaclavas and disrupt infrastructure and do not get arrested.

How did we get into this mess? How have we placed ourselves in the position where terrorism legislation is used to detain and prosecute peaceful protesters, while those adopting the terror tactics of private armies seem to be free to do as they wish?

The reason is that for some time British politicians have not taken terrorism legislation seriously, and that ministers have got into the habit of misusing terror laws for easy targets.
