It’s easy, if you want a party that will drive social welfare and tax reform, look after our planet and make things more affordable for the vast majority of Kiwis, party vote Greens (candidate vote Labour if you must) Anything else is a vote for National and by assoc a vote for ACT & NZF #nzpol

National's culture of not caring + what Luxon's "we've got the balls” really means, Opp's bottom lines, the defective Prefu, super-intelligent Trump and why is everyone losing their shit about Chloe Swarbrick wanting to be finance minister? New Substack post at Hopetown substack.com/home/post/p-...

The only press a group like this should get is questions about its funding and the usual suspect ghouls behind it, especially in the wake of dirty work. But as usual the NZ press is too afraid of losing access to do anything other than print verbatim press releases, ask soft questions

Something that truly breaks my heart, is that the thing most damaging to the National party hasnt been the homeless people that froze to death this year, the weak stance on racism or the thousands of children theyve pushed into poverty. It was Luxon insulting buisness owners.

Black background, white lettering that says: Labour, it shouldn’t be this close. Roll Hipkins & put in charge a great communicator willing to push bold policies, you’ll get loads of media which someone like Kieran McAnulty would use to your advantage . Give the youth something to get out & vote for (legalise & tax cannabis, more $ to pay for more bold things), and you definitely should push for a super rich tax alongside the Greens, stand on 10 toes down on it, taxing the rich is popular policy & people NEED help surviving right now.

This is largely by design, with the coalitions electoral 'reforms'. but media share unwitting (or witting) complicity. The only times they report on any policy proposal that would benefit or appeal to youth voters it is almost always framed thru negative reaction from coalition pols.

Labour, Greens - make a big deal about this, remind people that everyone did great work keeping everyone safe during the first two years of the pandemic, make them feel good about having responded to a once in a century event in a historically effective manner. Make NZF get really cooker on public.

Winston's idea to give $1billion of govt money to oil cos for exploration is a lose-lose gamble: If they find oil, we get more catastrophic climate change; if they don't find oil we just pay oil cos $1b for nothing. Spending on solar/batteries is a guaranteed investment in clean energy sovereignty

Simeon Brown's quoted response here – that New Zealanders voted to "end Labour’s co-governed system" – is the most deranged culture-war nonsense, even by Simeon Brown standards. Is he saying the Medical Council was "co-governed" because the chair, a respected surgeon, happened to be Māori?

The only path into govt for Labour is to move further left, away from the centre right (not going to vote for them anyway) and closer to the Green position. Thousands of voters wanting such a coalition. Labour 35% Greens 15% is doable with genuine collaboration

Nick & Mat Mowbury are worth $20 billion. If put that in the bank at 2.55% they would get $510 million each year. If they paid the same tax as the average Kiwi pays of 19% they would still have $16.2 billion, or enough to buy 13,500 average priced Auckland homes. Pay too much tax? Yeah right!
