The difference between the performance of immigrants in England and Western Europe is staggering. (20 pts equals a year of learning.) I looked at this in detail in the post - it can't be explained away by language or relative advantage of different immigrant communities. There is a policy factor.

[scene is SATURDAY KITCHEN, with the normal set of Saturday Kitchen, except it’s in a cave, and the guest chef is a kind of semi-human creature called MORLOCK, and the host is H G Wells]

1
H G WELLS:
Hello I’m HG Wells and welcome to Saturday Kitchen.

So with me today is Morlock!

MORLOCK
Helloo

H G WELLS:
Now tell me a bit about yourself, Morlock

MORLOCK:
Well I’m an future sub-branch of humanity that lives underground in the year 802,701.

HG WELLS:
Wonderful!

[Close up on what Morlock is cooking - a pale, veal-like steak in the frying pan]

MORLOCK:
And today I'm cooking Eloi, which is the my rival species of human, from above the ground.

[Wells makes a frozen face of realisation]

MORLOCK
Eloi are beautifully soft and easy to hunt

Because they’ve gone weak with over-reliance on technology!

HG WELLS:
Oh god. Did - did you -

MORLOCK:
It’s super local meat too - I bagged this one last night, just outside my lair.

[Cut to a scene above ground at night - Morlock emerges from his hole in the ground]

[He approaches an Eloi - a pale, weak-looking human - sat at a desk with a computer on it]

ELOI [talking to his computer]:

Hey Chat -
Write me an email to Jess in accounts about -

12
[Morlock grabs the Eloi]

13
[Cut back to HG Wells and Morlock at the Saturday Kitchen tasting table, tucking into the Eloi meat]

HG WELLS:
It’s kind of like veal!

Analyses of ancient DNA from hunter-gatherers near Lake Baikal in southeast Siberia around 5,500 years ago indicate that highly virulent Yersinia pestis emerged earlier than previously estimated, far from the next known cases of infection in Late Neolithic Europe.

Have another Irish #painting. "Glenbrook II" was the second time I painted the Cork Harbour village. Put houses in a row and I'm gonna be tempted to paint them. Then again, given the state of the country, just put houses somewhere - they don't even have to be in a row. #SpéirGhorm#ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics. Set into a hill two horizontal rows of 2-storey terrace houses face viewer. Bottom narrow horizontal strip across the painting is water of white and pale blue ripples with two small white boats. Above a maroon quay wall is the lower road with houses of yellow, white, pink, grey, green then a side road with the gable of a house visible on it, before three more houses of white, yellow and blue-grey continue along the waterfront road. The roofs are slate of varying greys. Each house has three windows on its upper storey and a central door with a window either side. All are very dark, some with white detailing. Behind and above is a steep bank with green bushes up to lawn of lime green. Just past that grass is the upper road with houses of yellow, pink, yellow, white, a dark gap then houses o f white, red, yellow, yellow, ochre, yellow, yellow, blue, ochre, and white. Roofs are all very dark greys. In the dark green bushes behind another road of no houses slopes up to the left, and above it are green trees around an olive green field. Sky between trees at top is a painterly canary yellow. Signed bottom left in dark blue on the pale water, Liam Daly
