I've been working on improving webcam eye tracking for 3+ years and it's nearly ready to go. After a lot of ups and downs I'm in the excited phase again after the latest validation study!

We've had about 2,000 experiment sessions saved to Drive, Zenodo, or Dataverse since (re)launch on Monday. Drive is currently the most popular storage provider.

DataPipe (pipe.jspsych.org) is ready for its post-OSF life. You can use it as before to save data from online experiments, but now the data can be sent to Zenodo, Google Drive, or a Dataverse instance. Existing OSF connections work until 11/16 I took this opportunity to do some major updates...

On the thought that the best way to demonstrate the kinds of data that childrenhelpingscience.org can produce is to build the datasets myself, I'm thinking of vibe coding an ASR benchmark task for child speech. If you'd be interested in such a dataset, what properties would you want it to have?

A pre-release version of DataPipe's new storage provider system is ready for testing. If anyone would like to help beta test it I'd love to have some extra eyes looking it over. It is deployed to a sandbox right now so you would just need to go to a provided URL and try things out.

There's been discussion about Prolific's dynamic pricing model here on bluesky. To learn more about this (and to make loads of cash, apparently!) I decided to become an actual Prolific participant. See thread below, but TLDR: What's happening on Prolific is not what I expected!👇

With the upcoming changes to OSF, DataPipe (pipe.jspsych.org) is migrating to a multi-backend model. We're currently developing support for Zenodo, Dataverse, and Google Drive. If there are other providers that you'd like to see as options please get in touch.

Response duration tracking is now an option in jsPsych 8.3.0. Decide whether to trigger responses on key press (current default) or wait for key release to get both initial response time and response duration. We handle edge cases like multiple keys being pressed and tabbing away from the browser.

calling all researchers who collect data from humans 🧠🧪 we are running a very brief survey (<1 min) about jsPsych, the software ecosystem for browser-based data collection. if you use jsPsych, or if you collect data with any other software, please fill it out at tinyurl.com/jspsych-census!
I am writing on behalf of the leadership of jsPsych, the software ecosystem for browser-based data collection used in experiments and surveys from many labs worldwide.

It has been difficult for us to figure out how widespread jsPsych usage is, because the software is freely available online and we do not collect any information about downloads, users, experiments posted online, etc. While the software has been cited in thousands of articles, jsPsych usage is likely more widespread than those citations imply, because not every project using jsPsych leads to a citation, and because there are also often substantial delays between actual jsPsych usage and a publication. As such, we are conducting a very brief census of jsPsych users.

If you collect data from humans using jsPsych or any other type of software, we would appreciate your filling out a very brief survey (<1 min) at tinyurl.com/jspsych-census. This will help us to understand how many people, labs, and institutions are current or former users of jsPsych, information that will help support the long-term sustainability of the jsPsych ecosystem.

We would also appreciate it if you could circulate this message to your lab, your department listserv, and your collaborators, to help ensure that it reaches as many members of the research community as possible. The survey is being distributed by Josh de Leeuw, Melissa Kline Struhl, and myself. Please contact me (sam@auckland.ac.nz) off-list if you have any questions about it.

A few days at the @jspsych.org Summer Hackathon 2026 turned into jspsych-ado: adaptive Bayesian experimental design that runs in the browser along with any jspsych experiment. It adapts each what it presents on each trial to what it has learned from a participant's earlier responses:

Replicating an eye tracking experiment in my research methods course this semester, so I built an integration for Tobii systems. This works for any of the Tobii Pro hardware, and, with the right SDK install, older hardware too. We're running an X3-120 with it. Feedback welcome!
