every single one of these linked processes stems from thinking of education in general, & higher ed in particular, as a resource frontier: a virgin territory or untapped resource of as-yet uncaptured potential wealth that now must be harvested / optimized / extracted. this mindset is our true target

This is a great thread on the current AI hype cycle. Important for us to distinguish HEAVILY augmented LLMs from their so-called theoretical capabilities, esp regarding mathematics - these companies have a massive incentive to fudge and a history of doing so (see OpenAI’s Dota2 AI back in 2016!)

The invisible labor (often performed by women and marginalized folks) that keeps organizations afloat remains hidden and uncompensated. But those musing about AI's "transformation" of work have probably always benefited from this kind of labor in all parts of their life and don't see it as work.

Given Wizards' abandonment of D&D fiction, it's great to see Hachette Partworks bringing back 100 classic D&D novels—even better, all in a gorgeous HARDCOVER format. If they were more easily available in the US, I suspect I'd be looking for shelving to fit 100 books. 🧵1
