Asimov's SF Magazine (@asimovssfmag) is now trying to force artists into predatory contracts where they steal away all rights. If you're a creator of any type, yes including authors who would like to be published by Asimov's, you should run far, far away.

Thrilled the D&D team is getting involved. Unfortunately, a long term trend since Hasbro bought Wizards of the Coast has been corporate abuse, most obviously seen in the regular holiday layoffs of staff. This should be great for the people AND for the game.

Designers & Dragons Origins is in your FLGS, at @drivethrurpg.com, and at Evil Hat today. This is the culmination of almost 13 years of work! DriveThruRPG contracted me in December 2012 about signing an NDA for a mystery project. It turned out they'd gotten rights to produce PDFs of old D&D books!

While some purists restrict the "OSR" label to games emulating OD&D and/or Mentzer Basic, others consider anything from the hobby's first decade fair game; thus, having first been published only six years after OD&D, under the broader definition you could technically write an OSR game based on this:
The cover of "Dallas: The Television Roleplaying Game", a licensed RPG based on the 1978 American prime time soap opera of the same name. The cover depicts Larry Hagman in the role of J R Ewing, dressed in a business suit and a large cowboy hat, surrounded by inset photos of the remainder of the show's principal cast. The cover's promotional blurb reads "All the drama and power, the wheeling and dealing, the loves and lives of TV's greatest family are yours to enact in this fun-filled, fast-playing game."

As Evil Hat said, I'm working on a one-book product history of Classic Traveller (closing out ch. 11 today). I've also got 2 out of 6 books done for a series on AD&D 2e, and I expect to return to that next year. The Call of Cthulhu book is a system history, which isn't quite the same thing.

Given Wizards' abandonment of D&D fiction, it's great to see Hachette Partworks bringing back 100 classic D&D novels—even better, all in a gorgeous HARDCOVER format. If they were more easily available in the US, I suspect I'd be looking for shelving to fit 100 books. 🧵1
