“Super intelligence” is so transparently nonsense that I bet it will force people to say what they mean: LLMs, agentic systems, etc. and actually spur a move away from the term “intelligence,” which was never more than marketing hype

it seems fitting that it's a riff on a thing about LOTR from 2019.
Tweet asking where The Lord of the Rings should use its one PG-13 F-bomb, with a still of a smirking Frodo captioned "All right, then. Fuck your secrets," a twist on his line "Keep your secrets."

i 100% agree with the premise that people need to be able to think, read, and write without AI, both as a moral imperative and in the practical sense that people can't use anything that builds on a foundation without having a foundation. but that's not what this article actually says.

I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview. IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing. Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵

We know how to teach books in the age of AI: small classes, close reading, research-engaged learning (which is how you ’let students see you struggle’). The issue is nobody will hire and pay the requisite # of faculty to offer this.

A four-panel webcomic drawn in a loose sketchy style with a muted purple-and-white color palette.

Panel 1: A man stands beside a tree stump surrounded by scattered leaves and cut branches, gripping his hair in distress. Speech bubble: "oh no! the rare cherry tree grandma brought with her from the old country! It's been chopped down!!" A second speech bubble continues: "And only a week after my new neighbor complained about it blocking his view too!"

Panel 2: A confused young man stands alone with hands raised quizzically, saying "Tree law?"

Panel 3 (three small side-by-side panels): An older bearded man in a suit leans back in an office chair with feet on his desk, saying "Tree law?" A man wearing sunglasses grins mischievously among stacks of papers, shouting "TREE LAW?!" A woman with glasses bursts up from behind a desk excitedly yelling "Tree law!!"

Panel 4: A chaotic, celebratory scene with money raining down from the sky. A crowd of lawyers — including the bearded man, sunglasses man, the woman, and others holding briefcases, papers, and one holding a torch — hoist the young man from panel 2 onto their shoulders in triumph. Bold jagged lettering across the bottom reads "TREE! LAW! TREE! LAW!" Signed "u/Reachling" in the corner.
