Fixing the head unit in my truck. Firmware instructions are like, look just trust us, it's going to work but it's going to get real 'Close Encounters' there for a bit.
Firmware upgrade instructions including "Automatically the update will start on the decoder, you will notice the screen will start to turn blurry and bright for 15-30 seconds. It will get back to normal when finished"

I saw this screenshot going around, found this detail charming, looked more into the game (I've never played a Silent Hill) & decided to buy it. Btw these are the "unimportant" background assets AI idiots think AI should be used for
Screenshot of a Twitter post by Val / @shegoingtogloat - it's a Silent Hill screenshot showing a close up of a cork board. On it, a paper says "Welcome to Shorefront Family Clinic" in a classic wiggly 3D font style. The tweet text is: Is this a Silent Hill asset made using PowerPoint lol"

Got bit-perfect lossless audio configured on some living room speakers yesterday & felt PRETTY PLEASED WITH MYSELF so for my hubris our HVAC condensate pump died at 4am (RIP lil pump). I replaced it without complaint as I took it to be the price the universe required for my high quality tunes.

this is a bit of an obsession of mine especially here in charlottesville. the cost of commercial real estate is prohibitive if you want to experiment and the city seems categorically opposed to small lots and small units that could allow people to start businesses without a huge capital investment

More than half the time I'm using the SD card slot on my macbook for micro sd cards so I *finally* gave in and ordered a flush fitting micro sd adapter. Honestly for a high micro SD card user it's great, wish I'd done it sooner. Always in the macbook, don't have to pull an adapter out of my tech kit

I think the entirety of the U.S. corporate press needs to be burned to the ground and replaced with perhaps some Krispy Kremes and a few new roller rinks until we can figure out how to rebuild a media that actually serves the public interest

I have to write down agendas of meetings I take and with whom while traveling for work. Even though it’s per diem when international. A non-academic then spends time deciding whether or not I was engaging in academic work while traveling for work. I bet if we cost it out, per diem costs less.

so excited by how well my beets path code works on all this. i *really* like knowing the musical period and composition dates at a glance. I also like being able to easily set the periods on unusual compilations like the Kronos Quartet Lachrymæ Antiquæ album.

Tweaked my beets.io config to sort, path, and title my classical music albums the way I've always wanted to. Still a shallow enough hierarchy to be navigable but includes a ton of composer oriented information (composer parent folders) along with track composition dates.
A set of folders with classical music period names (Medieval, Baroque, Romantic, etc.) and subfolders for composer (Erik Satie), album, and tracks with the track composition date).
