The combination of "everyone has to be in a car all the time" and "everyone is now performing for a camera and creating content all the time" is a bad combination and not a sign of a healthy society.

Seattleites are most concerned about traffic safety because we all experience it regularly: narrowly missing getting hit while walking in a crosswalk, seeing people using center turn lanes as their personal speedway, etc. Most people also know someone who has died or been seriously injured:
Info graphic showing most people will know 6 people who die in a car crash and 28 who have major injuries

Completely clueless to suggest access to Longacres is in any way comparable to Lumen Field. Just another reason a Renton stadium would be a complete travesty, and if Adrian Hanauer can't grasp that he needs to be gone yesterday. Sell the team.

Bike share should be a public service and not a for-profit enterprise. The politics surrounding bikes were very different when Citi Bike launched in 2013 and I get why it had to be done without taxpayer dollars, but we've come a long way since then.

Those of you eager to serve wealthy MLB owners as volunteer Pinkertons won’t like to read this, but as usual Joe Sheehan nails the real problem:
Joe Sheehan: This trade is a microcosm of the real problem MLB has faced for decades. It’s not about haves and have-nots, but wants and want-nots. The Dodgers, and teams like them, want to win more than teams like the Tigers do, so they go out and acquire the Tigers’ best pitcher. MLB has built an entire labor strategy and media campaign around demonizing the Dodgers, when in fact it’s the Tigers who are wrecking baseball. You have to be through the looking glass to think the sport’s problem is the team that’s trying to win rather than the team that’s trading Tarik Skubal while sitting 2 1/2 games out of a playoff spot.

Our City and region are going to continue to grow in population. We can’t stop that even if we wanted to (and that’s not what I want). So where are people going to live? Are they going to live in the City or are we going to cut down more forests and farmland to build suburban housing?

America needs more mayors who unapologetically love cities: “Cities are humanity’s greatest invention. Where opportunity, creativity, culture and democracy come together. Cities are where people who are different from one another learn how to live together. Cities are where innovation happens”
Most of all, we must tell our own story. It’s time to discard the notion that Seattle is “dying.” The forces pushing that narrative never wanted Seattle to succeed. This isn’t a call to ignore challenges, but to tackle them with a sense of possibility, because we’ve seen what our city feels like when we pull together.

Cities are humanity’s greatest invention. Where opportunity, creativity, culture and democracy come together. Cities are where people who are different from one another learn how to live together. Cities are where innovation happens because people encounter new ideas, new neighbors and new possibilities. That’s always been Seattle’s story, and we have an opportunity, a responsibility, to write the next chapter.

How refreshing it is to have a city mayor that actually likes cities! The things that made life in Seattle extra great during the world cup–the gatherings, the pedestrian streets, simply having *more people in our beautiful places* can make life better every day if we do them

We shouldn't dismiss & should try to resolve these issues. However, discourse around this ignores the needs of disabled cyclists (of whom there are many) & that risk to all & disproportionate risk to disabled people from motor vehicles is never adequate reason to pause motor vehicle infrastructure.
