This is happening every day in Southern California, too. Taking people from courthouses and every type of immigration appointments. Anywhere out of the public eye, they are going hard right now. Orange County, especially Santa Ana, is under siege.

Context: in 2014, LA Council member Gil Cedillo cancelled a planned bike lane on this dangerous section of road. This is the 5th cyclist fatality there since 2014. The victim was run over from behind by a driver, the most common type of car-bike collision. Protected bike lanes largely prevent this

My PhD advisor, Peggy Sanday, published Fraternity Gang Rape (1990). She found gang rape functions as male bonding through domination: men use women to prove masculinity, gain status, & demonstrate loyalty. As someone who stayed, it’s both. Liberal/left discourse hollowed out completely as people left, which gave the false impression of a cultural shift, and that drove some people to the right because they can’t distinguish between real life and Twitter.
