What a lie. Some of these people are being imprisoned indefinitely in squalid condition in African prisons. Others report being beaten and arbitrarily deported in violation of international law back to their home countries, where they face persecution or torture.
The indefinite nature of their confinement has taken a severe toll. In October 2025, a Cuban man who was on the July flight went on a hunger strike for a month-until he started showing signs of organ failure —to protest the conditions of his detention, including his ongoing confinement and lack of access to legal counsel.
Terrified of being imprisoned in Eswatini forever, another man repeatedly told his attorney that the prison there never lets people go. One man told his attorney that he feels like a caged animal with no end in sight. The prison does not have air conditioning, making the hot, humid summer months especially uncomfortable for the men.
Food is insufficient, medication is scarce, and requests often go unmet or are belatedly met.

remember: it saved no net money, social services US citizens are getting cut, and left the US in a weaker place geopolitically. none of the debates about fiscal responsibility, obligation to US citizens first, or 'hard choices' actually apply. they're all bullshit. killed people for nothing at all.

The reason not to triangulate against trans people isn't that it's bad politics (although I believe it is) or unnecessary (although I believe it is). It's because YOU MUST NOT ABANDON THE VULNERABLE TO DEPRAVED PEOPLE WHO WILL DO THEM HARM. If we will, what's the point of anything else we do?

Clinton & Obama's cozying up to W since 2016 has been ugly & deeply shameful. He's been totally absent in the authoritarian moment, & now he's actively stumping for it. Again, all the awful stuff keeps happening bc we never do elite accountability & haven't since at least Iran-Contra, if not 1865.

Breathtakingly bad polling. If the political class hadn't preemptively declared him immune to all laws of political gravity, they'd be calling this a failed presidency and talking about resignation, impeachment, party splits, and other historical markers of full executive-branch collapse.

"Doctors, lawyers and engineers" is an international online Nazi trope. The "joke" is that non-White people are too stupid to be anything other than a criminal or someone who leeches social services. Read a Spanish newspaper about Ceuta, e.g., and you'll see "médicos y ingenieros" in the comments.

Indiscriminately putting ankle monitors on an entire nationality, thousands upon thousands of people living in a small community, all of whom were living here entirely legally until a few days ago when you revoked their legal status. It’s an authoritarian nightmare.

I think this gets to the heart of liberal-left complaints about the press. Political reporters think we're criticizing them for not being on "our" side. We're not. We're criticizing them for not being on journalism's side. Unplug from the DC celebrity access system and do honest independent work.

If impeachment couldn't work against a defeated, out-of-power insurrectionary who put Congresspeople's lives in danger, there's no reason to think it would ever work. The Constitution thus lacks any functional way to get rid of a bad chief executive & so isn't even a minimally adequate plan of govt.

No one is an island all alone. We are bound to each other even if we
do not know it. The landscape binds us, flesh and blood bind us, work
and speech bind us. However, we are not always conscious of these
bonds. When solidarity is born, this consciousness is awakened, and
then speech and word appear, and at that point something that was
hidden becomes manifest. All our bonds become visible.
Józef Tischner, Spirit of Solidarity

A man’s good or evil actions, although not ordained to the good or
evil of another individual, are nevertheless ordained to the good or
evil of another, i.e. the community.

Thomas Aquinas ST I-II, 21.3 ad 1

In its social meaning liberation of every kind belongs to time;
salvation is for eternity, and for that reason always anticipates time.

One of the VERY FIRST things done after the Constitutional Convention in 1787 was to have the text of the new Constitution translated into Dutch and German, which were at the time the two largest non-English language spoken in the United States. Here's the National Archives making this point:
The months between signing and ratification were a busy period for the country. The proceedings of the Constitutional Convention had been kept secret, so each state needed to inform its voters of what exactly the proposed new government contained. Congress therefore directed the state legislatures to call ratification conventions in each state, with delegates specifically elected to approve or disapprove the new government.

However, this meant that each state from New Hampshire to Georgia had to receive a copy of the text, submit it to public debate, elect delegates, meet, vote, and return the results to Philadelphia. In an era where the speed of travel was limited by horseback, stagecoach, and boat, this was no quick feat. After the end of the Convention the news of the Constitution spread out in a wave, and thousands of copies were republished by local printers and distributed for debate. A flurry of newspaper articles, pamphlets, and public meetings followed, hotly debating whether the Constitution would be a good framework for a new national government.

Part of the debate and ratification process involved translation: non-negligible portions of the electorate spoke languages other than English. To reach them, the document was translated into Dutch in New York and German in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
