ai is inevitable so you're just risking being left behind, that is why we desperately need you to stop fighting back against it and start embracing it, otherwise the inevitable thing wont happen. also it needs to have a lot of tax exemptions and special permits because without those it will die.

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖
A pride flag with every color band represented by a NASA image. White is Earth clouds, pink is aurora, blue is the Sun in a specific wavelength, brown is Jupiter clouds, black is the Hubble deep field, red is the top of sprites, orange is a Mars crater, yellow is the surface of Io, green is a lake with algae, blue is Neptune, and purple is the Crab Nebula in a specific wavelength.

So, @edzitron.com ate his Wheatties this morning
LLMs impress the writers who do not want to write, the coders who don't want to code, the researchers who don't want to research, and the lawyers that don't want to actually understand case law. Those that desperately tell you how powerful Al is and that you simply must use it are looking for you to validate their own laziness or distaste for effort, and those who are impressed with LLMs' outputs tend to be people with low standards.

this proved so popular that it is now the only business model in the US.

A meme made from two screenshots from an episode of The Simpsons. The top image is a view of a bus driver from behind and the driver is saying "Don't make me tap the sign". The bottom image shows the driver's finger pointing at a sign that says "LLMs don't "know" things, they're statistical models.".

Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM

Execs find LLMs can mostly do their jobs. By extension, they conclude, it should be able to do anyone's job. The only people who ought to be thoroughly worried about LLMs are execs. Sadly, the system isn't setup to accept that particular reality.

From the "rational arguments" away to the emotional ones, Alex put this beautifully succinct:
It hurts my feelings that I specifically have asked you, my friend, to not use this thing that you do not need by any measure, because it is actively harming me, the planet, and society in very real ways, and seeing you using it anyway.

I need you to understand that when you do that, you are telling me, “I hear you, I understand, but also, I don’t care.“

If your docs are shit (outdated, unclear, poorly organized), an LLM won't understand them any more than you do. If your docs are *good* (written by knowledgeable people, with care to get it just right, maintained), an LLM gives you a subpar recap. Invest in docs. Demand better docs. Read docs.
