Unfortunately for Opportunity their fisheries bottom line is factually incorrect. Australia, Peru, Chile and New Zealand all bottom trawl the South Pacific. We are the only country that bottom trawls the South Pacific High Seas which is a very different proposition. Kayla Kingdon-Bebb knows this.

4. Revive ocean health
New Zealand is the only country that still bottom trawls in the South Pacific. Enough. We will demand an overhaul of the Fisheries Amendment Bill that phases-out bottom trawling to restore fish stocks and build a sustainable blue economy for the next generation.

And there are also are few prawn trawlers left in PNG if that is of interest. And they omit that the trawlers (2-3?) that operate in the HS do so regulated under a the SPRFMO - based in Wellington, so if you somehow how ban them, they reflag to Cooks (also a member) and continue fishing the same
