One person was injured in a shooting near Russell Field in North Cambridge on Tuesday afternoon, according to Cambridge police.
Cambridge Emergency Communications received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area at approximately 3:20 p.m. “Upon arrival responders located one victim suffering from related injuries,” police wrote.
ShotSpotter was not a factor in response to the shooting, according to a Cambridge police spokesman, who said that North Cambridge is well outside the coverage radius of the ShotSpotter system.
The victim was transported by emergency medical services to a local hospital. Their condition was not immediately known, police said.
Cambridge police and regional law enforcement partners remained at the scene Tuesday afternoon investigating the circumstances of the shooting. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Cambridge Police detectives at 617-349-3300.
