A very public 101 lesson on the social construction of crime. Massive breaches of laws in multiple countries that are not framed as crimes nor the responsible actor as criminal. Instead, this is managed through the frameworks of public relations and sales.

NZ risks getting a reputation as a country that doesn't honour its agreements. Deliberately breaching trade agreements because the "risk of legal challenge is likely to be low". Cancelling infrastructure deals via text message. The obvious consequences of electing politicians without integrity.

Wild claim to make in the face of Greens setting multiple discourse shifts over the last month and, as Sacha alludes to, the overt censure of Green policy announcements *alongside* giving David Seymour and Winston Peters constant headlines and columns of verbatim press release.

My most cool and normal opinion is that editorial content by elected representatives should only be provided to media outlets on the condition it will not be paywalled. That said, we all know the only people Andrew Little cares about are those who agree with The Post's BS enough to subscribe.

I paid my student loan (a hefty $90k thanks to interest being applied from day one) and I would happily support a government paying off other people’s student loans. Just because I don’t benefit directly from the policy doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen.

There's absolutely zero chance that Ben Thomas didn't know about the "cry me a river" quote by the way - it's his *literal job* to know this stuff, and he's an absolute pol media tragic on top of that you can hear it in his voice when he tries to pretend he's not even sure of the correct phrasing

Ignore for a moment the question about whether Anthropic trains on user sessions. I am I right in reading this as saying that Anthropic's "never-before-discovered" reverse transcriptase was *patented* three years ago?
Dr. Mestre first encountered the enzymes in jumbo phages in 2022 while searching for new reverse transcriptases. He worked briefly as a consultant for ReNegade Therapeutics, which filed a patent in 2023 on a number of reverse transcriptases, including the ones Dr. Mestre found. He is listed as a co-inventor on the patent filing.

That RNZ avoided the Hager book other than to mention the launch & run poopoo-ing responses from folk associated with the TU cult suggests one of two things: 1. its editors decided there was nothing in the book worthy of discourse, or 2. Hager's attacks on RNZ have forced the RNZ into defensive-mode

Jobbing political journalists' books get less attention than Hager books, because they are embedded in a political scene that is hard to step outside of, professionally, personally, morally or conceptually. Which makes their books less important. So the jealousy is structural in a way.

Journalists are crowing 'what's new?!' because they have forgotten that there is a second draft of history, and don't seem to recognise that a book like this, is it. This govt has literally forced the TPU into the *school curriculum* in its ideological vandalism, well here's the primary reference.
