I haven't heard that song either (except for snippets when morning TV on per husband) but that's mostly because I listen to SOMA FM, WXNA, Radio France-FIP (regular or Groove or Jazz usually), or di.fm. When I pass the Opry house sign going to work, I don't know 3/4 of the names.

People are not high-risk. Situations are dangerous. Predators are dangerous. Housing instability, criminalization, poverty, isolation, and institutional indifference create danger. A woman does not become less missing because her life was complicated.

When a missing woman has used drugs, traded sex, experienced homelessness, or had an arrest record, her disappearance is the consequence of a “high-risk lifestyle.” That phrase performs a moral trick. It shifts responsibility from the person who caused harm to the person forced to navigate danger.

A lot of society, but esp. the US and the UK, overemphasizes individual effort and problem-solving instead of systemic changes and better government regulations. And it's easier to hyperfixate on the choices of these individuals than focus on how institutions and gov policies discriminate and harm.

I wasn't crazy with how the Places markers were loading on the map, so I updated how they render to be cleaner. Also, deduping from OSM data wasn't working well for Bus Stops. I went ahead and wired up a GTFS connection to query stops from it instead. Hard refresh plz if you have any goofiness.

Remember when the administration tried to claim it wasn’t really anti-gay because they were going to oppose violent anti-LGBTQ+ persecution abroad via the UN? Yeah they’re not doing that anymore. Good work to everyone who fell for that garbage.

One rider prohibits Pride flags from being flown or displayed at State Department facilities. Another prohibits funds appropriated for "diplomatic programs" from supporting any special envoy or representative whose position is not explicitly authorized by law. The provision appears aimed at the currently vacant post of U.S. Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons, which Republicans have called for eliminating, arguing that it promotes a progressive social agenda abroad and conflicts with traditional and religious values.
