For all that it's been barely reported in the UK press, it's still hard to understate the importance of the stance @labourunionsuk.bsky.social has taken on trans and non-binary rights this week. Every single trade union affiliated to the party of government has stood up and said we will not comply.

& I would definitely like to see these situations handled, as the article discusses, more as ‘professional being let down by business partner’ than ‘child needs soothing’ or ‘child wants attention.’ Just as women aren’t hysterical in arguments with men, authors are adults negotiating their careers.

In fact, Meta clearly already has systems in place that can identify this type of violent child abuse content -- its own recommendation algorithm starts serving them up en masse as soon as you've watched a few! If it turned that tech toward moderation, the effects could be profound:

We conducted a test, by using regular Facebook accounts to report a bunch of accounts sharing the horrifying AI-generated child abuse content The outcome? Meta's moderators told us that the majority of the accounts don't "go against our Community Standards"
