Very excited to be working for the 3rd year w/ NESS Magazine!@newedgeswordmag.bsky.social Creating all new colour-ways of the end-page pattern I designed for the 2026 issues! This orange/blue combo for fall might be my favourite 🧡✨
Pattern Swatch Card for NESS 2026 END-PAGE REPEAT PATTERN COLOUR-WAY FALL ISSUE - Swatch pattern card on top of matching pattern background. Swatch card is a large white rectangle with a square swatch of the NESS magazine brand pattern I designed in the 2026 FALL issue colour-way.
Swatch card has font at the bottom corner that read
"BABE&OAK 2026 END-PAGE
REPEAT PATTERN
COLOUR-WAY: FALL
CLIENT: NESS MAGAZINE" and the stamp for Babe&Oak in the bottom right corner.

Pattern is a repeat pattern of sword and sorcery genre elements including skulls, Janus axes, daggers, radial suns, serpents, fireballs, stars and vines. This colour way is a dark midnight bleh background with high contrast warm mauves, celestial purples and intense oranges elements.

I share this bc there's a tendency in biking/walking/transit advocacy spaces to applaud feats of endurance & strength. This erases all the times/ways that our bodies can't do epic things. And more perniciously, this focus on physical ability can devalue and erase the experience of disabled people.

#31DaysOfOctober My favorite spooky photo. An oak tree with a wooden swing hanging from a branch in the hills of San Luis Obispo. #ECK #ClassicMono #Hiking #Halloween #Spooky #OakTree #WestCoastKin
A darkish black and white image of a large, old oak tree that has twisted and gnarled branches. It stretches wide in all directions and is growing on a hillside covered with dead leaves. There is morning fog which makes the tree look mysterious and adds depth to the tree and space. A wooden swing tied with rope hangs from the tree, light reflecting off the wooden seat.

I have been a guest at conventions where, during the pre-con walk through, my handler has pointed out the bar and mentioned how some guests are "more fun" and "get asked back," then names only men. Because a lot of female guests aren't comfortable hanging out around alcohol with strangers.
