Spot the difference. We didn't 5x the Cycleways network in London overnight. It took vision, hard work, & the conviction to invest in green infrastructure - often in the face of vocal opposition. In 2016, we had 90km of Cycleways. Now we're at 450km. That's progress. And we're not stopping there.
Graphic with the headline, “London’s cycle network is now five times larger than in 2016.” The upper map is labelled “BEFORE 2016” and shows London with a small number of bright green cycle routes concentrated around central London. The lower map is labelled “AFTER 2026” and shows London with many more bright green cycle routes extending across central and outer London.

Wrote a letter to my MP, it’s probably not the most coherent thing in the world but I couldn’t not say anything.
Dear
For the five years I have lived in
, I've been proud to have you as my representative. Your
intervention when my gender identity clinic did not send my surgery referral for over a year was crucial in getting them to acknowledge and, vitally, rectify their error. I will remain forever grateful to you for this.
But I'm afraid will not vote for you again, not whilst the red rosette you proudly wear remains a symbol of my exclusion.
Your government's proposed guidance is innately dehumanising. It prioritises the comfort of others over my ability to use the toilet, to access services, and to play the sport love with my friends. Ultimately, it seeks to confine me to my home - away from those who view me with disgust. A dangerous precedent has been set that it is more important for others to be protected from acknowledging the existence of those they deem unworthy than for marginalised people to exist publicly at all.
No matter how hard your party tries to spin this, there can be no dignity and respect for trans people with this guidance in place. As a trans man, I am told am not permitted to change with my football team who have called family for the last five seasons - that I must use separate female facilities alone. But if a woman walked through the door whilst I was lacing up my boots, I could be removed from these facilities too if she objected to my presence. Where is the dignity and respect in changing in a corridor? I suppose the preference is that don't play at all and stay at home so others do not have to perceive me.
I expect this behaviour from the Conservatives and Reform. Had this guidance been proposed by the previous Minister for Women and Equalities, I would have been devastated but not batted an eye. To watch a party I campaigned for, a party I was proud to represent for several years as a candidate, the self-identified "party of equality" usher in the biggest rollback of LGBTQ+ rights since Thatcher's Section 28 is shameful. I will not choose betwe…

Gov straight up admitting that any attempts at gender policing are unworkable because "There is no type of official record or document in the UK which provides reliable evidence of sex." So bin it??
13.179 Where there remains a genuine concern about the accuracy of the response
to a request for an individual to confirm their sex, then the service provider,
person performing public functions or association should consider what
action is proportionate in the circumstances. There is no type of official record
or document in the UK which provides reliable evidence of sex. For example,
sex on passports and driving licences may be changed with or without a
Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC), and birth certificates may reflect the
acquired gender of someone who has a GRC. Therefore, it is unlikely to be
proportionate or practical to ask for further evidence of a person’s sex.

New EHRC guidance is due today. Remember: ➡️ Early reports based on unattributed briefings are spin, not facts. ➡️ This is civil law around who can and cannot bring discrimination claims - not criminal law. ➡️ Whatever it says, it is a choice by this government. They can fix it. ➡️ We will keep going.
