600 years old, 193 feet long, 37 feet tall and with 95% of its structural timbers intact! Built using just axes, saws and adzes. The majestic Great Barn in Harmondsworth. Wonderful Friends group sharing their knowledge and passion for London Open House.
Exterior of the barn showing full length of the timber frame with 12 bays and three entrances, and the new roof of hand-made clay peg tiles.
Interior of the barn showing the complex system of bracing not unlike the nave and aisles of contemporary Gothic churches, but with only oak dowels to secure it.
