Fam! We were trying to be funny in our earlier post (we should know better)! Nice to know we're loved, though. Thanks. We’ll be back soon with new content – watch this space...
An image of the model of Fishbourne Roman Palace, taken from the north east. It has been photoshopped to appear as a real building with a realistic sky in the background. The architecture is highly classical in style.

This Mesolithic amber figurine from Denmark is conclusive proof that The Wombles were around long before the 70s.
A mall orange figurine carved from amber, with a long snout, facing right. Officially it is a bear, but it has the distinctive whiff of Bungo to us.

How. Many. Times... 🙄
You know the batman and robin meme where robin is saying something and batman slaps him around the face and replies? Well it's that. Robin starts to say "Fishbourne Roman Villa", but Batman interrupts with a sound thwack around the chops, correcting him "Palace". No matter how accurate Batman is, if we were Robin, we wouldn't stand for this.

We lent the Learning Team this book and for some reason when they returned it, it was wrapped in cling film. 🤔
In the background is a slightly out of focus bookshelf. In the foreground a left hand holding by the corner a book called "Roman Chichester" by Alec down, which is inexplicably wrapped in clingfilm and has an elastic band around it.

Why isn't Margate's Crab Museum on Bluesky? We need answers. 🦀
It's a snip from another platform. A man sleeps while an huge crab looms over him. Captions say "Don't worry you are not alone" and "We've hired a crab to watch over you". The comment on the post is "Crab Museum takes no responsibility for it smashing your flat to bits in search of tidbits of algae, whale flesh, or a simple good time. Frankly, we're as baffled as you are.

We can confirm that visitors to the Palace will be able to buy "healthy cocaine" from this dealer, in our car park.
A lovely little horsebox, festooned with bunting and surrounded by blackboards listing types of cake, hot drinks etc. and their prices. Through a hatch in the side you are able to purchase any of the items listed. Also, we think people should use the word "festooned" more.

Today we will be mainly posting pictures of artefacts that look like sweets. 🍬🍫
A cute figurine of a bear made from amber. It looks like a gummy bearA figurine of a hippo with a hole in his back and a loop of gold going through the hole. The figurine is made of a transparent glassy material. Rock crystal, perhaps. It looks not unlike a Foxe's glacier mint.A carved bust of a bearded man in a brown material, against a red background. If you told us it was carved from chocolate, we wouldn't argue. A figurine of a hippo in a green material (nephrite, apparently, whatever that is). It looks like it could be a wine gum, but one of the green ones that no one really likes.

We're hosting Erin and Will today (from @buarchanth.bsky.social). They're surveying our Formal Garden using ground penetrating radar. Can't wait to see what they discover. Probably a previously unknown hypocaust. 🤞

A Roman mosaic, executed in a naïve style. Beneath is either a rabbit or a hare. above is what may be intended to be a dog but the frankly shocking quality of the mosaic means it could be mistaken for an aardvark or anteater.

Today’s amazing and completely not tenuous Easter fact: The Hall is 4 years older than hot cross buns. Brother Thomas Rocliffe of St Albans Abbey began making them in 1361 and would distribute them to the poor on Good Friday.
We are looking at the Great Hall. All majestic soaring oak frame but sadly devoid of hot cross buns.
