Start the week with a building. Lutheran Centre #Bloomsbury, Robert Maguire and Keith Murray, 1974-78. Church below street level on Sandwich Street with hostel/student rooms above, matching block on Thanet Street. Courtyard between. The oriel windows are an unusual feature in a tight urban street.
four storeys of student housing (striking square oriel windows) above semi-basement church of which the semicircular windows are visible at street level. Attic storey continuously glazed. Subtly crafted brickwork and brown stained wood windowsHostel facade. Similar, but with service entrance and varied glazing around entrance and 1st floor: slightly taller windows for the communal rooms. Out of sight: the round windows that are on both facades and give a slight postmodern touch.
