Be under no illusion: this is a significant victory for everyone who stuck their neck out and defended jury trials, day after day, clause by clause. But it is not a comprehensive victory. Magistrates should not be allowed to send people to prison for two years.

It’s very much “our focus groups tell us she’s x quality” analysis which is like, ok, yeah, I’ll accept the people in your focus groups do tell you that but meanwhile she’s made a long series of calamitous strategic choices for her party, how exactly is that “good leadership”?

Her sole quality is that she’s survived the Hunger Games/Yellowjackets crossover that is Tory infighting for this long, and Farage has started to implode. It’s something, but it’s not actually leadership.

Just so dispiriting to watch the Greens be corrupted by the same poison that took over Labour. All the same shit: the excuses, the mealy-mouthed justifications, the tortured position statements, the deafening silences. Like a historical reenactment.

There's going to be something of the Greek tragedy about Polanski as a Jewish man who rode anti-Israel sentiment and entryism on the left to success in the Greens, only to have to find out by experience that plenty are actually antisemitic and will burn it all to the ground to be so.

I have heard some bonkerooney from the Tories in recent years, but this is off the charts. As a sensible policy, it is up there with making it a legal requirement for people called Jacob to wear trousers while taking a shower. That level of madness. Let’s break it down.

The really worrying bit is that they don't have a definite date for the 2027 spending review yet. I could see the argument for a tiding things over budget if you knew the big decisions were in the spending review and were already working on it, but this is just procrastination.

An amendment (2C) to the 'Zionism is Racism' motion states that "anyone who voluntarily relocates to Israel who was born in a different country, with the intention of permanent residence in and assimilation into Israeli society, is inciting the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians"
Insert new 5(a)
5.a. Therefore anyone who voluntarily relocates to Israel who was born in a different country, with
the intention of permanent residence in and assimilation into Israeli society, is inciting the ethnic
cleansing of Palestinians by creating a situation where Israel must grow into areas currently lived in
by Palestinians to accommodate Israel's population of naturalised aliens. Voluntary migration into
Israel is not a neutral decision which exists in a vacuum, it is an instruction to the Israeli government
to continue it's policy of expansionism and Palestinian dispossession of land, property and territory
in order to ensure living space for it's population at the detriment of the indigenous Palestinian
population
