S&P 500 unchanged over three months -- with earnings expectations up and price/earnings multiples down. This is *exactly* what you would expect to happen when interestst rates are being driven higher by a mix of growth and inflation. Sometimes markets make sense.

All the talk is about Man City circumventing football's financial fair play rules but this description suggests another word beginning with F. www.premierleague.com/en/news/4727...
The purpose of these schemes was found to have been to artificially inflate the club’s revenues, and reduce its costs, by more than £900 million during the affected period, to appear to comply with financial rules. The consequence of this, as the Commission found, was that the club filed misstated accounts and concealed the true state of its finances from its auditors and football regulators. The Commission concluded that ‘by its conduct the club clearly intended to circumvent the PL Rules‘.

Luckey’s Erebor Bank Plots Syria Expansion
By Michael Roddan

Erebor Bank, fresh from becoming a vital new financial bridge between the U.S. and Venezuela, is eyeing a new foreign foray: expanding into Syria.

The bank, founded by Anduril Industries co-founder Palmer Luckey, has told staff and some investors it could help the war-torn Middle Eastern country reconnect to the global financial system, potentially attracting billions in deposits from businesses and consumers, according to people familiar with the strategy. Doing so would make Erebor a remarkably early mover in Syria, given that Washington only recently reopened the country to U.S. firms and investment.

Like Jo Ellison, I am slightly obsessed with the epidemic of twentysomething office workers posting banal “day in the life“ videos on social media. The only plausible explanation is that it’s an elaborate psyop orchestrated by Big Office. www.ft.com/content/535b...
Flexible work hours are now regarded as a birthright by many employees. Ask any business trying to persuade their staff back into the office and you’ll discover #corporatelife is a hard sell. Part of me wonders whether these #corporategirlies (for that is what they sometimes call themselves) must be part of some broader conspiracy to get more people back at their desks. These forever single, working mannequins, tapping on their laptops and talking about the bliss of air conditioning, must have been dreamt up by city realtors or corporations in an effort to make the office cool again.
