There are two wolves inside me. One wants to write a glorious and expansive novel. The other wants to write a teeny tiny short story that says everything the novel wants to say in less than 1000 words. The third wolf, that's me, just wants to sleep and read books and dream everything into being.

I must also retract my belief that Mrs Bennet should have a gun, a regrettable misreading of her character. I do, however, think it would be very funny if we gave Lydia a gun.

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHORT STORIES EVER!!! Seriously, go read it. It's so much fun - and the way it's written, driving hard and fast to the end zone, is perfect.

Reading 2025 fiction? Try the short story "The Terrarium" by Jordan Taylor @jordantaylor.bsky.social! You can read it here! buff.ly/iRFbI66
The cover for Uncanny Magazine Issue 65, “The Duet" by Nilah Magruder: Two women sit at a piano. One is wearing a lilac dress with a locket around her neck, her skin is a dark shade and her hair white. Next to her, the second woman is wearing a red dress, and has black hair worn up in a bun-like style. Her head and hand are not attached to her body, giving the impression that she is not human but a robot of some kind. Both are smiling as they play together. The quote reads: "At a distance, the occupants of the terrarium might be mistaken for ordinary moths, but up close—Freddie fits a brass jewelers loupe to his eye and adjusts the focus—they look quite different."
