a fairly new type of brazen lie is to post a lie with a link to a video that categorically disproves your lie. this was pioneered by terfs who would post like "watch me get ASSAULTED by trans radicals" and the video just shows people milling about at a protest.

Asking random American Muslims to disavow the Muslim Brotherhood is like asking random American Jews to disavow Israel. They’re both tropes about dual loyalties. If you can understand why one is inappropriate, you should be able to understand why the other is, too.

I wrote this about TikTok in February but could literally write it about Dexcom now. And also, of course, literally COERCING YOUR MEDICALLY FRAGILE USERS INTO CONSENTING TO A TOS did not exactly do much to increase trust. That last part is important. Happy to chat with journalists. :)
Instead of dismissing these reactions as overblown, I believe that companies should recognize that if a huge portion of their user base assumes the worst, that’s not a reading comprehension problem; it’s a trust problem. So writing data privacy policies more legibly is a start, but rebuilding any kind of inherent trust in the stewardship of that data is probably the more important challenge.

I think the context makes this clip even funnier —the woman is Carolyn Swords, who was in the WNBA from 2011-2020 —the show premise is "pick a topic where you're an expert," she chose "basketball players" —Rob Lowe REPEATEDLY points out to the guy that she was in the WNBA —HE CHALLENGES HER ANYWAY
a woman on a game show with a graphic saying CAROLYN: CATEGORY, BASKETBALL PLAYERS

the captions say "she's a former WNBA player"Carolyn waving to the crowd. the caption says "I played in the WNBA."the two contestants standing next to Rob Lowe. she towers over Rob Lowe, because she is 6-foot-6, and in case this isn't clear yet, played in the WNBA.

Rob is looking at the male contestant sand saying "WNBA player doing basketball ..... man, I don't know ...."Carolyn saying "this will be a slam dunk for me"
