If you can get a court to decide that the definition of sex in the equality act was wrong all along, presumably you can also get a court to decide that the definition of disability or the definition of gay was wrong all along too?

Mental health nurse Amy Gallagher is bringing an employment tribunal against the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust claiming racial harassment, belief discrimination and victimisation. While undertaking
psychotherapy training with the Trust, Miss Gallagher says she raised concerns about aspects of teaching on race, including material concerning "whiteness", "white privilege",

@bphillipsonmp.bsky.social @equalityhumanright.bsky.social This is what the anti trans rhetoric that has been fostered with your ‘guidance’ does: it has real world consequences. Here was a trans woman, who was simply on a train, minding her own business, and she has been subjected to verbal abuse.

Reality was a year and a half before that. When Brianna was murdered, Starmer couldn't even give condolences. Didn't even mention her. And days later, on 23rd February, his "you can leave" speech. Hope left the room that day.

Labour are wreaking havoc and enacting transphobic and racist policies right now. That’s the reality. No Labour member has moral high ground to stand there and act as though they get to stand defence in left wing values and imply that *the Greens* are equivalent to fascists

IF you are part of a party that is currently gutting the rights of trans people, calling the Greens like a ‘a left wing Restore’ is just not credible. In fact it’s ridiculous. And I say this as someone who has spoken out at length against the Zionism is Racism motion and left wing antisemitism

Sorry, I don’t want to keep harping on this, but seeing that the overwhelmingly negative response to the original thread has resulted in no self-reflection, just framing all of the criticisms by people directly impacted by Labour as ‘lashing out’ or ‘negativity on social media’ is depressing.

I believe fraternity hazing and military hazing and sports team hazing where men abuse each other is acclimating them into a broader culture of abuse where they will then believe it is their right to abuse other more vulnerable people. It’s so insidious. And that’s also why I think men defend it

It really gives the game away when the anti trans orgs are calling the election of the neo nazi party in Germany a "glimmer of hope."
A screenshot of an online article headline from "Inspecting Gender" by Genspect. The main heading reads: "Germany: A Glimmer of Hope for Sex Realists?" Below the title, the summary text asks: "Is the victory of the AfD in Germany a dark day for democracy or a glimmer of hope for sex realists? By David Allison." The bottom metadata displays the Genspect logo, "5 hours ago," and a "Listen" audio option button. In the top right corner, there is a teal "Subscribe" button alongside a circular profile avatar.

For all that it's been barely reported in the UK press, it's still hard to understate the importance of the stance @labourunionsuk.bsky.social has taken on trans and non-binary rights this week. Every single trade union affiliated to the party of government has stood up and said we will not comply.
Joint statement from National TULO

Solidarity with the trans and non-binary community

Labour's 11 affiliated trade unions stand in total solidarity with the trans and non-binary community.

Trans rights are human rights, and trans rights are workers' rights.

We in the trade union movement will do all we can to stand up for our trans members and all our trans siblings, to protect them from persecution, harassment and attack.

The government must act now to protect all trans people, to make sure their rights are protected, expanded and upheld in our workplaces and communities.

Andy Beshear has an entire chapter in his new book about backing the LGBTQ community and it's worth a read. He talks about how the anti-trans ads were tested in KY during his election and how vetoing anti-trans legislation didn't hurt his reelection campaign.
However the anti-trans ads had less to do with Kentucky and more to do with the fact that we were in an election. Terry Schilling, the head of the APP, decided to test the ads in our election to determine whether or not the issue could win votes for the Republican Party. Earlier in the summer of 2019, Scholling had partnered with a behavioral science firm to try to find a wedge issue that resonated with suburban voters. That's right. The anti-trans ads did not come out of some firmly held conviction but was a purely political stance. Their research landed on trans athletes, specifically trans women, competing in women's sports. They tested their theory in the 2019 Kentucky gubernatorial general election. Although I won, APP considered their test successful, because their research showed the ads delivered thirteen thousand votes for Trump Lite, which made the race tighter than anticipated. You might hask how, in this political climate, I was reelected after vetoing the anti-trans bill. Because people respect authentic faith. The day I vetoed it, I explained my why. I said I believe all children are children of God and that I don't want people picking on these kids. I then countered their anti-trans ads with commercials talking about good jobs, healthcare, roads and bridges, public education, and public safety. The result? The biggest win of my career. So don't tell me the Democratic Party should stop fighting for the rights of all people. Just explain your authentic why, and then get back to focusing on issues that touch all our lives on a daily basis.
