A reminder that if not for the Supreme Court in US v. MORRISON, Jane Doe would have had access to the federal courts for a civil rights action. The Court said that rape is a local matter no matter how great the impact on commerce.

Thinking of the famous, now-tenured academic woman who told me that she thought anti-rape activism was “inevitably reactionary” and how she’s the Title IX coordinator for her department.

I have wondered how this inevitable progression of white nationalism toward hostility and exclusion of Asians would play among the population of monied, male revanchists in Silicon Valley.

Watch me discuss the Cornell rape controversy with Michael Tracey.
I think the lesson of this is that women do not want to have casual sex with men they don't know well.
They'll end up hating themselves, being hated by other women, and even seen with contempt by the men involved. This is why these situations turn bad.
Maybe she was assaulted, maybe not, either way it was a terrible decision to make.
Women need to be told the truth.

You know when public attention can reverse a prosecutorial decision like this you almost get the sense that the decision to shrug it off in the first place was not based on an assessment of the quality of the evidence so much as an assessment of the seriousness of the crime.
