100% endorse this thread. I teach consent, violence prevention & bystander intervention for a living - It is my area of expertise. There is *no* evidence of the existence of an "Oops, my bad!" rapist. "Sexual assault is a miscommunication" is a myth without any evidence. It is an intentional act.

Studies dating back to the 80s have found that men are not just “confused” about consent. They just don’t prioritize consent over things like power, domination, and sexual gratification. Men participating in a gang rape know they don’t have the victim’s consent.

There's a lot to consider in this thread, but the points made here are important. Comics can be frustratingly informal/casual at the best of times, partly because it's an industry made up of freelancers, and the lack of safeguarding structure is noticeably absent.

This man is a monster. He seeks out women survivors because he hates them. And he hates them because he hates himself. He has harassed me and other women survivors many times over the years. It must end. He should never have a job anywhere.

The raw visceral hatred some men have for women, at least women who step out of line, is shocking. I know it sounds like some sorta "one of the good ones" ploy but I am genuinely taken aback when I see it because I think: I had a fairly normal socialisation as a man in the west, how did I miss this?

Also, he purged the Kennedy Center of a collection of African art that was given in tribute to JFK, but he installed this, from the Tony Montana Meets Saddam Hussein Collection.
Indescribably, almost parodistically ugly, vulgar, gold-foil relief art, straight out of a dictator's cocaine palace, of Trump raising his fist and saying "Fight! Fight! Fight!" after having his ear grazed by a bullet, and of RFK Jr. with some croaky quote next to him. The art pieces look like something you could unwrap to reveal artificially flavored chocolate from five Easters ago.

Some Dems are making what they think is a savvy strategic decision: Toss trans people overboard for a net gain in votes. I don't think it'll work, but maybe it will. Either way, I find it appalling and won't be supporting them. I support candidates who don't treat members of our team as expendable.

The Ford app just added AI. This is the greatest thing ever.
Ford app AI prompt, with the user-entered text "Write a 150-word story about Sailor Moon and Hatsune Miku kissing."Under the gentle glow of a moonlit Tokyo skyline, Usagi Tsukino stood atop a quiet rooftop terrace, the night breeze catching her golden twin tails. Beside her, Hatsune Miku adjusted her glowing teal ribbons, a soft electronic melody humming faintly from the synth display at her wrist. The vibrant city buzzed far below, but above the streets, the air was peaceful and still.
Turning toward each other, Usagi smiled warmly, her bright eyes reflecting the starlight. Miku stepped closer, her digital glow softly illuminating the space between them. Without a word, Usagi leaned in, and their lips met in a sweet, tender kiss that seemed to bridge magic and music into…one perfect harmony. As they pulled back, blushing beneath the moonlight, Miku shared a soft, cheerful smile.
Now that the magic and music are in harmony, is there anything I can help you with regarding your Mustang Mach-E
today?

Good thoughts on how to survive the end of the world from *checks notes* Andrew Garfield.
And how do we change, you know? I mean, how does a systemic change happen? . . . I was talking to a much smarter person than me about it, and he was saying that the world currently doesn’t have a center. The center is falling apart. The world and the structures are just being dismantled, dissipating, and dissolving. The world is dying, but not in an ultimate way. It’s a death before a rebirth. And this is what’s happened over and over and over again. It’s not like the Renaissance was just a bunch of guys getting together [and saying], “Should we do a Renaissance?” It was a bunch of individuals feeling a lack of center in the world, and finding a center in themselves, and creating a whole new way of perceiving and living, and bringing that very personal center to the center of the culture, while a bunch of other people were doing the same thing.

I find hope in the idea that each of us as individuals can find that change within ourselves—can find that true core of humanity and soul, and style, and deep self, to bring to the center of the culture. And if enough of us do that, then enough seeds will be planted to grow a world that maybe is a bit better than the last one.

This is the letter kids got at the end of the imagination library. Full disclosure: I stole it from another poster who decided to caption the image with an alt text that said "sorry I'm not typing all that" which is an abuse of alt text
Dear Imagination Library Graduate,

My, how time flies. It seems it was only yesterday when your family
and friends read you your first story. You were just a baby. Now you're five years old and about to go to school. How exciting!

This may be your last book from my Imagination Library but you have
to promise me you will keep on reading. If you go to your local public
library you will find a great number of books just for kids your age. Every book is a treasure and every time you open one up you will meet new friends and take wonderful journeys to magical places.

I hope you have a great time in school. I bet your school will even have
a library where you can check out books. You and all of your friends are very special. There is no limit to what you can do or how far you can go.

Just remember the lessons my family taught me - dream big dreams; learn everything you can learn; and care for all those who care for you. You do all of these things and you can be anyone you want to be.

You are terrific, and remember ...

I Will Always Love You,

Dolly
