Little love note to the dappled yellow light and leaves we’ve had in PDX these last few glorious days.
Many overlapping translucent rectangular brushstrokes of gouache in blues, russet brown, blues from Payne’s Gray, ultramarine and cerulean and greens from chartreuse yellow to pine.

In not at all ground breaking developments I can now tell when an abstract painting is not what I want it to be and also I can see places in the one that works that I wish were different. *clutches at beginners mind while it slips through my fingers*

Last night at H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival a figure in yellow was spotted lurking on the rooftop across the street from Hollywood Theatre. We could sort of see them from the vendors room, but a tree was in the way. Today we confirmed it wasn’t just our imagination. King in Yellow confirmed! #hplff

I really love Portland and Oregon and my life is much, much easier here than it was in Texas and also the lady singing at the farmer’s market sounded just like Patty Griffin and she sang Angel from Montgomery and all of a sudden there were tears in my eyes?

After decades of crystallized honey in sticky plastic dispensers that then melt in the microwave and, I’m sure, poison us, I have upgraded our honey dispenser. It is ridiculous how much of a difference it makes re: clean up and storage.

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship on Wednesday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes without adhering to certain conditions. 🧵
