He mentioned journalists so I'm going to note that one of the reasons why I left the US was the high cost of healthcare. People my age are developing chronic conditions like back pain and seeking physical therapy or other diagnostic services. Tariffs and oil prices also affect US healthcare costs.

He derailed classes too. He brought in print outs of right-wing screeds from the Internet about the Lost Cause and how slavery and capitalism can't ever be talked about together. I never bent and let him fucking have it after the course was over but it seems admin is now increasingly on his side.

This guy sent me inflammatory emails weekly about how I was a disgrace to his alma mater and should have my Ph.D stripped. He went to admin himself, because I wouldn't teach what he wanted. Fortunately they ignored him, but guess what admin did for me to help w/ the harassment: not a goddamn thing.

I have a real-life example of this shit. One time an old uni donor audited my Civil War course and harassed me all semester b/c he didn't like scholarly teaching. Instead, he told me, and administrators, that I should give old racist perspectives equal due because he and "people believe it."
