22 California billionaires have spent a combined $150 million so far to defeat Prop 40. By spending their fortunes trying to stop California from taxing billionaires, they're making the argument for a billionaire wealth tax more clearly and articulately than anyone else possibly could.

As many others have said today, it shouldn't take someone's death to address safety concerns that have been widely known for years. Nearly every time a pedestrian or cyclist is killed you'll find a history of prior crashes in the area. These deaths are preventable.
The project follows years of concerns about traffic and street safety in the area, intensified by Gag's death.

Trump has imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court, and while his kids "negotiate" a Ukrainian peace deal, he's paying Putin to breach sanctions. Hegseth is live-streaming an execution by firing squad, and gave the UFC a binding contract to train the US military in hand to hand combat.

Fundamentally, Palantir is a fairly boring piece of software that is quite good at consolidating old incompatible databases which the public sector is full of, but it is just visibly a national security concern to embed a hostile power into every bit of the public sector, come on.

Trickle-down economics, sold by Reagan/Thatcher as a route to prosperity for all: In practice, it disproportionately rewarded the already wealthy. Thatcher transferred publicly owned infrastructure into private hands, sometimes at bargain prices. The public lost assets; private investors gained.

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship on Wednesday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes without adhering to certain conditions. 🧵

seeing conservative men debate how to dress online is very funny. can't dress up or wear interesting casualwear bc you've made any visible interest in dress to be a sign of homosexuality. but you feel the need to dress better bc you've linked dress to respectability. a prison of your own making.

"The current level of political animosity is exactly what one would expect to see if an extremist faction attempted to rescind the hard-earned rights of the vast majority of the country’s citizens." There are not enough exclamation points to convey how I felt reading this paragraph
Screenshot of article which reads: From this perspective, the “both sides” frame falls apart. The prob-
lem is not that the parties are divided. The problem is the existential
threat that a reempowered ethnonationalist strain poses to pluralistic
U.S. democracy writ large. The current level of political animosity is
exactly what one would expect to see if an extremist faction attempted
to rescind the hard-earned rights of the vast majority of the country’s
citizens. The only way to re-oppress most of a country is to use anti-
democratic and authoritarian tactics. And the only way to oppose those
tactics is to push back as a population and clearly reject them. This is
the argument happening in the United States, and its pathology is not
anger—it is the movement to undermine a generation of rights.

I'm planning a new career as a "fitness influencer" (which is what I believe they're called). Link to my YouTube channel in next post......
EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 60

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags. Then try 50-lb potato bags and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level).

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

GrapheneOS. A version of android that cuts out tracking and your phone keeping tabs. Ironically needs a Google Pixel to install on. You have to be a bit determined though it's not hard with their instructions and can be reversed. Degoogling completely from a gmail account etc is more of a process.
