Because of gender and ethnic pay gaps in Aotearoa, Pacific women are now working for free until the end of the year. This election year, we need to vote for pay equity. It’s the only way to make sure that all working people are respected, valued, and paid what they’re owed. #nzpol

Worth remembering that if it costs the government $4.5b to reverse the gender pay tax, then it costs the women affected $4.5b to leave it in place.

Why do people talk about their data in their research question? E.g. "Using a population-based sample with high-resolution estimates of fine-particle exposure, we aimed to..." The RQ is what you want to know and the data come after to help you study it. There's no reason to mix the two.

There’s enough food in Aotearoa to feed everyone. Let’s start by making sure every child has a nutritious lunch at school.
Graphic announcing the Green Party's plan to provide free and nutritious school lunches for tamariki. Below the headline, a school cafeteria counter displays healthy lunch options including fruit, wraps, baked items, and drinks. Two children hold trays at the serving counter. The text reads: “#BREAKING The Green Party will provide free and nutritious school lunches for tamariki.”Campaign graphic showing a child looking into an open refrigerator containing a small selection of food and household items. Text reads: “At a time when more whānau are struggling to afford the basics and 1 in 5 children live in households that run out of food, every child should have access to nutritious food.” Decorative strawberry, arrow, and broken-heart illustrations appear around the text.Campaign graphic showing two children sitting on the floor reading a book together in a classroom or library setting. Text reads: “Our tamariki learn better when they are well-fed. Every child across Aotearoa deserves healthy, delicious, locally prepared kai that helps them thrive.”Campaign graphic showing children seated at a table with trays of school food, including sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, and glasses of juice. Large text reads: “The Green Party will restore, expand and protect funding to feed our kids in schools. No child should come to school uncertain about their next meal, and the Green Party will fix that.”

We are seeing that here in relation to the council. Right-wing politics isn't about liberal freedoms and free speech. It's about control and facilitating certain types of and speech while restricting the speech of others. You do that by appointing the 'right' people to positions who will enact that.

ABSTRACT

Spreadsheets are widely used software tools for data entry, storage, analysis, and visualization. Focusing on the data entry and storage aspects, this article offers practical recommendations for organizing spreadsheet data to reduce errors and ease later analyses. The basic principles are: be consistent, write dates like YYYY-MM-DD, do not leave any cells empty, put just one thing in a cell, organize the data as a single rectangle (with subjects as rows and variables as columns, and with a single header row), create a data dictionary, do not include calculations in the raw data files, do not use font color or highlighting as data, choose good names for things, make backups, use data validation to avoid data entry errors, and save the data in plain text files.

Ways the govt could quickly help New Zealanders reduce fuel usage, but probably won’t 🤷, for reasons: ⚠️ Lower speed limits 🚌 Encourage PT (eg bring back half-priced fares) 🚲 Encourage active modes (eg pop-up bike paths) 🛤️ Move freight from road to rail (eg ramp up KiwiRail) 🏡 Support work-from-home
