More from the Forest Service cabin rental. Even before reading the labels, this is so blatantly a US Government chair. Label says made in December 1958 by Chromcraft. About a half dozen in this cabin.

“La Main Couronnée” (the crowned hand). They stopped printing that on the handles in 1985, but this one’s from between 1955 (when they first began printing it) and 1967 (when the hand turned 45° and began pointing at the blunt edge instead of the blade tip.). My friend’s Opinel No. 07. Nice aging.

The vehicle’s movement cooled the water with moving air and so the air hitting the radiator would be cooler than ambient.

My parents had one of those, a commercial one, not a government one. You'd fill it with water and hang on the outside of your car and the evaporation would keep it cool.

It was literally water storage for the Forest Service. What they used instead of water tanks. Could be drinking water, could be for a car radiator; anything the Forest Service needed when it needed to move water around.

I so badly wanted to keep this aluminum forest service helmet, found in the same garage. I’m not in Alaska, but it seems to have originated in the Tongass National Forest, makes it even more desirable.

Not sure I’ve ever encountered this. Is it because of wildlife? Or maybe general purposes. The road was not at all winding, steep, narrow, curvy or otherwise treacherous.

Hotel Baxter, 1929. Not staying here, but love the building and the sign.

The sign for the hotel are mounted on like a metal scaffolding on the roof of the Hotel yellow lettering on black background, not sure if it lights up at night, probably does. The building is made of reddish, beige colored brick probably qualifies as an art ecotype style, maybe with some type of Spanish influence

On the ground still in Vancouver. Delay of at least 1h because of gate issues in Seattle, will almost certainly miss my connection to Bozeman, MT. Sucks but nothing you can do about it.
