When Dolly heard this she replied "Well I have money" and donated $1m. Abumrad's team produced the Moderna vaccine.

Today I've learned that Dolly Parton gave Black high schools band uniforms and wrote Eminem a nice letter when he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Marshall (Eminem), Congratulations on your induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Your performance was amazing and everybody said so. Even though I don't know a lot about rap music, I've come to know that you are the very best at it. Aside from that I hope what I have to say will not seem weird or strange to you but I have always felt some unexplained connection to you like I know you somehow. I had hoped to
meet you at the show but you know how nuts those things are, personally I hate 'em and I missed my chance but maybe someday we'll meet. In the meantime, keep doing what you're doing because you do it so well and no matter how complex your world may be just know you are very special and touch people in

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

Not to bring more downers to the downer party, but it is really worth remembering how many states have cut Imagination Library and/or have threatened to do so. Dolly cared far more about young people and literacy than any politician. It's been a brutal year for IL cuts.

Alfred got lucky, he got to see how he would be remembered without actually dying and that allowed him to sanitize his reputation. But if we sanitize the harm people have done "out of respect for loved ones" it doesn't affect the dead person. It affects those who might follow in their foosteps.

The Nobel prize is named after Alfred Nobel. He is thought to have created the prize after his brother died and a mix up led a paper to think he (the inventor of dynamite and a arms dealer) had died. The obituary called Alfred a “merchant of death.”
