We killed about a third of our lawn two years ago to make a garden bed that hosts almost exclusively native plants for pollinators, and it has worked wonders. Our backyard is full of friendly bees, the wildflowers and milkweed are beautiful, it's a real win-win.

You're looking at a 200 year-old wisteria vine at Byakugou-ji Temple in Tamba, Hyogo, Japan. The delicate pink/purple blossoms create an otherworldly place where magic can happen. But here's an interesting fact: wisteria are in the legume family (Fabaceae). This is a magic beanstalk.

I think about this a lot with regards to concert ticket pricing for DIY musicians
