there is no leftist literature as embarrassing as the "anticorruption is bourgeois and you have to understand that the politics of the working class are inherently patrimonial" literature which followed Lavo Jato and PT's total failure to do literally anything to reform.

I do think this should put some of the hand-wringing over the uniquely sinful American electorate, uniquely feckless institutions, etc in perspective. The truth is that there is a large trans-national constituency of people who actively want this. They aren’t deceived. They want this.

A recurring controversy in left-wing spaces is "Was Person X being antisemitic or does he just call everyone he's arguing with a 'filthy lapdog of the globo-capitalist elites who should be liquidated along with his spawn'?" and I'm kind of tired of it, to be entirely honest.

Tbf I play kaiserreich almost exclusively because I know the actual ww2 history and the main game is extremely boring to me. Have you thought about playing a campaign in that mod and seeing how their version of history is different?

I pretty much only play the kaiserreivh mod because it solves some of this for me.

Getting mad at Joyce Cato Oates for being a snob after cheering all her epic burns is a different form of being a member of the Leopards Eating Faces party. You can’t contain that heat, you can only hope to avoid its gaze.

I have noticed that the obnoxious STEM-lord shit has lead to an equally stupid negative polarization among some humanities types about how the brutish crypto-fascist ape-robots of STEM could never hope to understand the true subtleties of art or theory or whatever

Always funny when ostensible liberals are like "You see, this postcolonial conflict is actually very nuanced and complex, because what makes it so very unique is that the majority ethnic group doesn't want to share power with the minority ethnic groups." Oh wow, I didn't know that, that's wild man.

the ideal for marx and a lot of other thinkers was a utopian notion of a “machije in the garden” that would automate all grime labor and leave people to bask under a bountiful surplus. later expanded recently into Fully Automated Luxury Communism. I don’t think that is going to happen soon

I'll admit, part of why I'm so skeptical of the emerging realignment thesis of this election is that it just seems so *random* that it would happen NOW, after ten years of Trump being a remarkably consistent public figure and ten years of remarkably consistent political trends.

Imagine making this argument while spending your time on social media instead of spinning wool or mending something, like you'd have been doing prior to labor saving devices
No technological advancement produced less labor, because, despite the marketing, they were never intended to. They were meant to increase productivity for Capital; no produce leisure for workers.

The thing about actual Roman damnationes memoriarum is that they didn't really obliterate all memory of a bad emperor. None of our sources are afraid to talk about these figures. It wasn't truly about forgetting the guy, but about abolishing his (positive) public commemoration.

Putting aside that country music is a multibillion-dollar industry centralized in a major city, it's also notable that a huge part of the domination of country music since the 2010s has been the incorporation and influence of rap and hip-hop.
