Publishing in journals reaches other academics. But if you want to reach policymakers, nonprofits, funders, or the media— You need science communication. Visibility creates impact. Not just citations. #SciComm 🧪
A hand-drawn infographic titled “What’s Your Research Impact?” shows a horizontal scale between two approaches: “Publish in Peer-Reviewed” on the left and “Science Communication” on the right. Five audience categories are listed, each with a two-tone bar indicating which approach is more effective for reaching them:
	1.	Other Academics – Mostly reached through peer-reviewed publishing, with some reach through science communication.
	2.	Policy Makers – Slightly reached through peer-reviewed literature, but mostly through science communication.
	3.	Non-Profits & NGOs – Primarily reached through science communication.
	4.	Donors & Philanthropists – Mostly reached through science communication.
	5.	Journalists & Media – Strongly reached through science communication, barely through peer-reviewed publishing.

The graphic visually emphasizes that the broader societal impact of research requires communication beyond peer-reviewed journals.
