GPC6 Lipid Shielding Sustains WNT5A Gradients to Prevent a RASopathy-like Developmental State
Morphogen gradients require ligands to disperse across tissues from their sites of production, yet receptor engagement can consume ligand before it reaches distant cells. This poses a particular chall...

What a waste of my (and many others) time applying last Sept! "we unfortunately expect to make a reduced number of awards to applications currently being assessed by our four research boards and developmental pathway funding scheme." www.ukri.org/blog/mrc-fun...

Closing the chapter: Goodbye from Joyce - the Node
Today marks the end of the chapter for my time at the Node and Development. What a ride it has been! I don’t think you can find many jobs like this one:

So frustrating... the site is down more often than not in the last week. You only fully realize what a wonderful/crucial resource it is when you cannot access it.

Our 2024 Sir Michael Berridge Prize winner Alyssa Silva-Cayetano, a former postdoc with @linterman.bsky.social, spills the beans on the work recognised by the Prize, and wider aspects of her career and life outside science. #ImmunoSky www.babraham.ac.uk/news/2024/12...
Text reads: News - Meet Dr Alyssa Silva-Cayetano - Sir Michael Berridge Prize winner 2024. Main image shows microscopy images of a germinal centre structure which is altered in aged mice (90-95 weeks old) compared to young mice (8-12 weeks old). Inset image is of Alyssa.

Excited about our pre-print on AXIN1 mutations in HCC! We found that AXIN1 mutations drive low but physiologically relevant levels of Wnt/β-catenin signaling, while being permissive to YAP/TAZ activation. This helps explain why mutations in AXIN1 and β-catenin are linked to distinct HCC subtypes.

Our new preprint is out - please share! We asked: How can we make CRISPR knockouts in vivo more efficient? And set up an assay that enables detection of CRISPR cutting with 100s-1000s of sgRNAs over entire chromosome arms in living animals. Grab a ☕ and let’s dive in. 🧵🧪 1/n #CRISPR #geneediting

We love that #MicroscopyMonday is still a thing! Let us introduce our Imaging facility team, led by @smonw.bsky.social, together they make these beautiful images possible! 👇 Here are our favourite images but can you match them to our research programmes - #Epigenetics, #Immunology and #Signalling ?🧪
Isabel San Martin Molina, Simon Walker and Kirsty MacLellan-Gibson stood in a walled garden smiling"Blackberry fields" - Irene Zorzan and Teresa Rayon's image of human embryo-like structures derived from human embryonic stem cells (blastoids) that form balls of cells with an inside cavity that look very much like blackberries. Blue marks all nuclei of the structure, the green label marks the cells that will generate the embryo proper (Nanog), and the pink label is a readout of a ribosomal protein (pS6).An image that looks like a galaxy. The spleen is an organ of the lymphatic system that plays an important role in the immune system. In this video, multiple markers were used to characterize the structure of the germinal centres in the spleen. 25 different cellular markers were targeted including B cells, T cells, plasma cells, fibroblasts, macrophages, stromal cells, granulocytes, red blood cells and dendritic cells. Images were taken by using the ultra-high content MACSima imaging platform at the Imaging Facility by IsabelCelia Raimondi's image of collections of nematode worms in different colours - DNA staining (DAPI) of D1 in adulthood of mutant strain (glp-1(e2144)) of Caenorhabditis elegans. Image acquired with Nikon A1R Confocal, objective X20. Modification of the colour with ImageJ
