Today I visited the SDOT staff in front of the Queen Anne Trader Joe’s tabling on the proposed parking changes and they were taking some abuse from angry neighbors. If you see them, let them know you appreciate their work.

Well super disappointed in @robsandia.bsky.social and wish I could get my donations back. If we don't stand in solidarity, what are we even standing for? Besides, this only opens girls and women to more scrutiny, harassment, and invasive testing, all to prevent a problem that isn't even a problem.

The United States is taking aim at Canada once again, with a crushing new set of tariffs. Ultimately, government will need to solve this. But in the same way Canadians are avoiding US alcohol, produce, and other goods, they should get off US tech products too. Luckily, I have a guide for that.

Many people say because of unions, laws etc it's impossible to discipline bad cops. But many tools to discipline and punish cops exist, they are just deployed exclusively against whistleblowers and honest cops so corrupt cops can drum them off the force

AOC: I said this a couple of weeks ago: I would not be surprised if, when ICE funding started up again, we would start to see more civilian deaths at the hands of ICE. And that’s exactly what has happened. We didn’t see things like this happening with the same degree when we froze ICE funding.

A lot of media coverage of the ‘AI’ reading of the Herculaneum scrolls really fails to understand what’s happened here. There’s no language processing happening, the AI/ML is not trained on a corpus of texts or language. It can detect ink to see shapes. HUMAN EXPERTS are then transcribing the text.
A screenshot from here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2025-02-07-inside-herculaneum-scroll-seen-first-time-almost-2000-years

It explains that the machine learning involves only the detection of ink

Spent a weekend in Vancouver and absolutely loved getting to see "Vancouverism" in person! Seeing all these cool buildings from the little ferry was so cool. Downtown also felt very alive and thriving. The sun was out!
Tall buildings with different facades and of different heights lined up along a waterfront. You can tell the picture was taken from a boat as the bow is visible in the bottom corner of the photo along with an awning. The sun is bright and bouncing off the buildings and a blue sky is visible behind.Another picture taken from a boat - this time an awning is visible across the top of the photo. A small rocky beach is rising from the water with various shrubs and trees growing on it, all in different shades of green from the chartreuse of fresh spring growth to the dark green of pines. Behind them are tall apartment buildings, their glassy facades shimmering in the sun. Some buildings are topped with greenery and trees on rooftops and balconies, beautifully complimenting the surroundings.
