Delighted to have contributed (a little) to this - dissecting role of urine, flow and phages on E. coli-urothelial interaction. Most remarkable to me was ability of phages to kill intracellular bacteria AND alter the host inflammatory response. "How" is the next interesting question... 🤔 #UTISky

Great post @apsmunro.bsky.social! Doing more is such a natural reaction. But even 'benign' interventions may likely be harmful when tested properly. I'm yet to know of a trial for sepsis where adding antibiotics has been beneficial (outside of TB where we do it to prevent emergence of resistance).

Intravital imaging showed these macs nibbling and engulfing live melanoma cells. This was independent of PS receptor MERTK. How are they able to recognise and phagocytose melanoma cells without opsonisation by antibodies? Can we exploit this for cancer immunotherapy? Lots to do! Please share! 2/2
